There is also a Defender anti-aircraft defense batteries and Spartan close-combat companies stationed onboard the Daedalus.

Production Notes: The UN Spacy follows naval traditions for its overall hierarchy and positions, but uses the rough equivalent of World-War-II-era Imperial Japanese Army and modern United States Air Force/Army ranks for its ranks. (The Imperial Japanese Army and the US Air Force uses different ranks from their sister branches for the lower enlisted ranks.)

The distinction should be made between the positions and the ranks in the UN Spacy (as well as in real-life military services). For example, the captain of a warship (äÕí∑/kanchou) does not necessarily hold the rank of Captain (ëÂà—/taii or ëÂç∑/taisa). Captain Bruno J. Global is a captain of a warship who actually holds the rank of brigadier general. The same is true of a commander of a base (äÓínÇÃéióﬂäØ/kichi no shireikan) and an admiral of fleet (íÒì¬/teitoku) for the ranks of Commander (íÜç≤/chuusa) and Admiral (ëÂè´/taishou) respectively.

The typical Valkyrie VF-1 air tactical wing/group and Tomahawk attack battery varies in size from the models above. The Phalanx ended its development and started its deployment aboard the Macross after the ship's launch.
