Development

The Spartan was born from the ambulatory weapons program of the UN Forces as a humanoid-type weapon. The MBR-07 Spartan series' development was begun one year and two months after the MBR-04 series' development in 2003 July by the second-place participants of the ambulatory weaponry competition. Trial production began in 2005 February and the MK I's rollout occurred in 2008 January. All MkI were later renovated into MkII.

The Destroid Spartan was for close hand-to-hand combat. Developed in jointly by Centinental and Kransmann, the unit was developed upon the adoption of a powerful engine, driving all of the equipment without the possibility of a secondary power. Furthermore, high mobility was achieved but problems with the power transmission system and engine development delayed production. Regardless, it still received high acclaim in operation because of the heavy armor and high mobility where a considerable number were deployed to the front lines.

Operation

The Spartan was actively used in suppression of Zentradi insurgencies. It is easy even for a VF pilot to handle this unit since the Battroid form of a VF was based on the design concept of the MBR-07.

Description

As opposed to the MBR-04 series, the MBR-07 series was developed jointly by Centinental and the Kransmann Group. Unlike the MBR-04 series, there is no auxiliary generator in this close-combat attack series' model due to the increased power of the main engine. Infrared searchlight and targeting turret in fore of main body. The rugged silhouette has a wide range of motion even though the waist and wrists swivel. The back armor becomes a retractable cover of the engine improving maintenance of the high-powered engine. A rocket nozzle is installed beneath the engine cover, increasing the mobility. In addition, there are taillights and such under the shoulder.

Armament

  • Two Bifors 12-rocket close-in self-guided rocket launcher, mounted on the shoulders. Similar to the Tomahawk-type, it can fire a volley of 24 rockets with close-in tracking performance.
  • Gun: 1 x Astra TZ-IV gun cluster (1 x laser gun, 1 x 32 mm machine gun, 1 x 180 mm grenade launcher, 1 x 12.7 mm machine gun, 1 x flamethrower), stored in the body under the central hatch.
  • Anti-aircraft: 2 x Mauler RQV-10 anti-aircraft laser gun
  • Grappling: 2 x Norman Banks CH2-TYPED claw hand with 5-finger manipulator.
