Airframe based on the VF-19EF Caliburn which S.M.S is testing as an experimental unit for data collection by commission from L.A.I. ACTIVE stands for Advanced Control Technology for Integrated Valkyries: advanced control technology integrated into variable fighters. It is equipped with the OTM free-transforming materials first used in the YF-21 to change the wing cross section and airfoil for all aspects of air combat. However, without depending on BDI (brain-wave control system) or implants, this controlling technology of the flight control system is complicated and is still under development. The essential skill of the pilot and the high-end A.I. of the supporting EX-Gear intuitive interface are indispensable; an airframe chooses its rider. Although it is a unit which has powerful experimental implications for new technology evaluations, there are very small production numbers of this unit, even limited within S.M.S, including Chelsea Scarlett's main unit "Nothung", because of the aforementioned reasons. It is considered that part of the data collection for the current and next generation variable fighter development appeared to the Vanquish-race this season.
