Alto Saotome

Alto Saotome (早乙女 アルト Saotome Aruto) is a high school student enrolled in a pilot training course at the Mihoshi Academy aboard the Macross Frontier fleet. Thanks to his handsome visage and long hair, he is often mistaken for a girl — but he is otherwise a perfectly normal boy. He usually has a defiant, standoffish personality. He was born into a prestigious kabuki family, but due to his yearning for the skies and tense relationship with his father, he is planning to become a Valkyrie pilot. As a kabuki actor, Alto is know for his legendary stage performance in "Sakura Hime Azuma Bunshô/「桜姫東文章」".
He is constantly fretting about living aboard the Macross Frontier fleet, but since the Vajra attack, he has been piloting the latest variable fighter, the VF-25.
