General Galaxy/Messer-Varauta Fz-109 Elgersoln
Contents
Program
- Type: Main Variable fighter.
- Equipment Type: Variable Vehicles
- Manufacturer: General Galaxy/Messer-Varauta
- Government: Varauta
- Customers: Varauta
Design modeled after the VF-14 series heavy fighter-attack craft which was developed by General Galaxy around 2025.
The main variable fighter (VF) of the Varauta army which tormented the Macross 7 fleet. The heavy attack craft, VF-14, made by General Galaxy is presumed to be the originating model and unknown technology from the Protodeviln was introduced. As the result, the performance exceeds the VF-11C Thunderbolt which was the main fighter at the time.
Variants
- Fz-109A: Standard version in service.
- Fz-109F: Version assigned to commanding officers. Four additional laser guns, additional barrel on rear rapid-fire laser gun, increased engine output.
Design Features
Three-dimensional thrust vectoring, escape pod Spritia absorption beam, large-bore blaster, multi-barrel rapid fire laser gun. The Fz-109, which has an unique fuselage form, adopts a transformation mechanism which greatly differs from other VFs. The rear section of Fighter-mode becomes part of the body while the nose rotates around and forms the back. In addition, this unit features a complicated system using two hinges, where the nose shifts to the head.
Powerplant
- Two 52500 kg class (maximum instantaneous thrust in space) thermonuclear turbine engines in Fz-109A.
- Two 55000 kg class (maximum instantaneous thrust in space) Shinnakasu/Daimler FF-2770D thermonuclear turbine engines in Fz-109F.
- Two hexagonal underfuselage air intakes. Two three-dimensional vectored exhaust nozzles, for enhanced V/STOL performance and maneuverability.
- P&W/Daimler HMM-5C high-maneuverability vernier thrusters.
Accommodation
Pilot only in entirely enclosed canopy with no external view. Outer and inner canopy cover. Escape pod. Escape pod has thrusters for controlled flight and a landing legs. Three panes of impermeable glass on armored canopy (Fz-109F).
Avionics
Canopy camera eye system. Various levers integrated into one for simpler operation. Front and upper displays. 5-side screens. Dedicated console for Spritia absorption system. Arrangement and structure of controls in F-type differs from A-type. Manipulator has pressure-sensitive sensors for precise control
Armament
- Two fixed laser gun placements mounted on nose in Fighter and GERWALK modes or on head turret in Battroid mode (Fz-109F only).
- Two fixed horn laser gun placements mounted fore of engine nacelles in Fighter mode or on shoulders in GERWALK and Battroid modes (Fz-109F only).
- Fixed rear large-bore blaster mounted rear port of main fuselage in Fighter and GERWALK modes or on port chest section in Battroid mode.
- Fixed rear rapid-fire laser gun placement mounted rear starboard of main fuselage in Fighter and GERWALK modes or on starboard chest section in Battroid mode (two barrels on Fz-109A, three barrels on Fz-109F).
- Four fixed micro-missile launchers mounted fore of engine nacelles in Fighter mode or in shoulders in GERWALK and Battroid modes (Fz-109A). Eight fixed micro-missile launchers (4 on each side) mounted fore of engine nacelles in Fighter mode or in shoulders in GERWALK and Battroid modes (Fz-109F).
- Two standard eight-missile medium-scale missile launchers mounted in lower rear engine nacelle in Fighter mode or in lower leg section in GERWALK and Battroid modes (Fz-109F).
- Two standard external multipurpose gun pods (each with sensor, foregrip, and detachable stock magazine) or two-part prototype heavy blaster mounted inside engine nacelles/leg sections with exit ports in all variable modes or in manipulator in GERWALK and Battroid modes. Both parts of beam heavy blaster can be used or combined for greater firepower.
- Spiritia absorption beam system.
- Other optional weapons
