Story Chronology | Eight decades after Space War I (parallel world story) |
The Super Dimension Fortress Macross II: Lovers, Again is the second animated Macross video project and the first attempt to create an animated Macross sequel with new characters. Although it credits the Macross creators at Studio Nue with the original mechanical design of the title ship, the SDF-1 Macross, the series was created without Studio Nue's participation. The main participants from the first Macross series was character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto and scriptwriter Sukehiro Tomita. Although part of the Macross franchise, this series is listed as a parallel world story in the Macross Chronology. For the North American release, the series was originally released as an episodic video series but was later combined into a movie format.
