Macross Frontier (マクロスF)—also known as Macross F—is the third animated Macross television series. It was created by Shoji Kawamori and Studio Nue to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macross, and began running on MBS in Japan on April 4, 2008. This is the first Macross series on television in nearly 14 years, and the first major Macross project since 2002–2004's Macross Zero. The story of Macross Frontier takes place on the Macross Frontier fleet near the center of the Milky Way galaxy, 47 years after the events of the first Macross series, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

Summary
The Macross Frontier fleet is en route towards the center of the Milky Way galaxy in search of inhabitable planets when it is attacked by the mysterious extraterrestrial life-form Vajra.
